“Chia” Zhe Jia
Chia was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, China. He began to learn piano🎹 at the age of five. He was admitted to Xi 'an Conservatory of Music to study electronic music production🎚. After
graduating from college, Chia moved to Beijing, became a composer🎼 and have spent the past seven
years producing soundtracks for documentaries🌄, films🎞, TV series🎭, and
commercials📢. Meanwhile, influenced by Beijing's underground music scene, Chia started his own electronic music project ‘Axumy’ and ‘HONYARARA’, to demonstrate the unique landscape of his inner worlds.
In the present, Chia has been additional interested in pondering how to use cutting-edge technology⚙️ and rich media🎨 to go beyond listeners’ imaginations and conventional perceptions, to create imagery and space in music, and to stimulate listeners’ embodied experiences through multi-sensory channels. Thus, he has constantly sought opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration🎮 with visual artists and engineers. In 2023, Chia moved to New York to enroll in the Live Music Production and Design graduate program at Berklee NYC, exploring the possibilities of enhancing immersive live experiences through the integration of music, visual, and lighting elements.
As a creator and designer, Chia hopes to explore the merging of unique Chinese aesthetics and oriental philosophical contexts in production to expand multi-dimensional expression and create more distinct and affecting experiences for diverse communities.
